One of my husband's biggest pet peeves is drivers who fail to merge onto a highway properly. He can't understand why those entering a highway or Interstate travel down an entrance ramp until they match speed with a car, then wait until that vehicle--traveling at a high speed, mind you--changes lanes, making a nice space to slip into.
Don't get me wrong, I hate merging onto highways, so I appreciate this courtesy, but it's just that--a courtesy.
Perhaps the problem lies in the fact the NC Drivers Manual doesn't clearly state: WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE, YIELD TO CARS TRAVELING IN LANES. However, the manual posted online does include the following:
Pg 34 (Points given when) Failure to yield right of way when entering an intersection, turning at a stop or yield sign, entering a roadway...(results in bodily harm)
pg 62 When entering the interstate, use the acceleration lane until your vehicle’s speed matches that of the other traffic and then merge safely
Nowhere in the manual does it say a driver should race down an entrance ramp until they're even with a vehicle traveling on the highway, and then honk at that driver in an effort to force them into the left lane.
Having a car move over for you is nice, but if they can't or won't, yield the right of way.

Hostessing: Bathroom Etiquette
Advice you didn't ask for. Always stock the following items in your guest bathroom:
- Soap. Decorative soaps do not count. Guests are never sure if they should use them. Others simply dislike washing away the outline of Mickey Mouse's head.
- Hand Lotion
- Clean towels. Your bath towel does not count, nor do decorative towels for the same reason stated above.
- An extra roll of toilet paper
- Air freshener
- A waste can complete with inner garbage bag. Why? Women already know the reason, so guys don't ask. You'll regret it.
