Surf City

No kayaking yesterday. Most of the tour companies are either opened on the weekend or open full-time in mid-May. But the idea put salt water in our veins and we headed to Surf City. Sandwiched between two Topsails——Topsail Beach and Topsail Beach——Surf City is one of those typical beach towns. Cars are crammed in parking lots and along the road, and tourists swarm the pier, the beach, and those two-story souvenir shops with murals of large aquatic creatures painted on the side.

We found a spot just above the tide line, and stuck our beach umbrella in the sand. Lying on a couple of  grass mats, we picnicked, took photos, and enjoyed the sight of foamy whitecaps roiling on the shore. Overall, a great day.
