Family Ties

For the past few years, I've been working on my family history. When I had researched as much as I could online for the time being, I canceled my account and took a break.

I reactivated the account last month. In addition to finding a record pertaining to a land grant for one of my relatives, I connected with a second cousin—a descendant of my grandmother's older brother. A line I knew very little about.

After we exchanged several emails, her father—my first cousin once removed—contacted me as well. He and my uncle used to hang out as boys and into the teen years. The families were close but eventually drifted apart.

He filled in a few gaps I had of my own family and told me what happened to his uncle, my grandmother's youngest son, born after their father died at a young age.

I enjoyed getting to know them. Constant research isn't always necessary in genealogy. Research spurts work as well.
